First Palm Kernel Shell Biomass Fuel Delivered to Independent Power Producer
As solution business, our company is importing and selling Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) and wood pellets from Southeast Asian countries for biomass power plants. We made our first supply of approximately 10,000 tons of PKS to one of Independent Power Producers in Northern Japan. We arranged for a 13,000-ton bulk carrier to load PKS in Riau Province, Sumatra Island, Indonesia, for three-day starting from July 21st, 2024. Despite being hindered by Typhoon Son-Tinh on its route, the vessel successfully arrived at the designated port in Japan on August 15th. Upon arrival, we promptly completed customs and plant quarantine procedures, and finalized delivery to the customer on August 18th.
The demand for carbon-neutral biomass fuels in thermal power plants is increasing every year. Following this recent delivery, our company will continue to supply reliable biomass fuels to a growing number of new power plants in a stable and flexible manner.
Regarding PKS, under the current regulations, starting from April 2024, only PKS with international certification demonstrating sustainability, taking into account environmental and human rights, will be permitted. Our company has already obtained the international certification of GGL (Green Gold Label) and has established a system to procure internationally certified PKS stably from overseas suppliers who also hold the same certification.
